Tugged at 7000 feet above sea-level on zero latitude in Kenya-Apline, Mount Kenya Safari Club was once an opulant private hide-away for a selective few from the West. Owned jointly by a big-screen icon, a Swiss banker and an American businessman when it was inaugurated, much of the special flare and glitter that came with these pioneers have all but gone. Physically, the club house and the hotel are in a fairly unpleasant shape. A long over-due refurbishment and upgrading is badly in need to bring glamour back to her.
Fortunately, the cool weather, the beautiful magical sight of Mount Kenya and the lush surrounding of the former "White Highland " nearby remain in their very best. Therefore, a visit up here is still a great Kenyan experience.
