Note for Mallory: You can get many books on Switzerland, both to buy and at the library, which will help you decide where to stay. Also, Best Western has catalogs (for free!) of all their motels all over the world. Read up! It's really expensive in Switzerland, but there must be some hostels which are cheaper...

I like your narrative, keep it up. The enthusiasm you feel after traipsing all over Europe is catching and Im already thinking of returning sometime in 2006. Taking pictures, to me at least, is so much like trying to catch lightening in a jar. The most beautiful place on earth!
Switzerland is deserving of that title! I visited Grindelwald, and Lake Geneva. I was born in Hawaii, and I rate those islands far behind Switzerland. Bermuda would be my second home after Geneva, if I could afford the lifestyle, poor Greenwich boy!

Thanks for your good photos! My mom and I spent a month in a hotel in Thun, near there, and went all over, by boat and bus! We went back to our same hotel room at night, so convenient, we didn't have to pack and unpack! The trains in Switzerland are so easy to use, clean and good, (in fact, all over Europe!--I wish we had good trains in USA!) makes getting around so easy. The price we paid at our hotel, included a Swiss "Holiday Pass", so we could jump on trains, buses, and boats, daily!(for free, ie.)
