Hi Megha, When we went in 2005, there were only two hotels in Musandam, one was the old Khasab Hotel, where accommodation is (was?) in small villas in the hotel grounds. There was a a swankier Golden Tulip in Khasab, but it was reportedly full when we visited. Golden Tulip is more organized in terms of concierge services, Khasab is also good, but a tad more low key. There seems to be a third new hotel now, which was not there when we visited. You can see these pages regarding accommodation in Khasab. Distance to Musandam
Hi sreejesh, distance-wise, I cannot tell exactly. Its about 65-70km from Dubai to RAK. From RAK, Khasab is another 35-40 km. Its about 100km in all, give or take. It doesn't take more than three hours to reach there, even allowing for the border formalities after RAK. Visa is available on arrival for Indian nationals. Carry your car registration with you, as you need to show it and get an exit stamp on your passport on the UAE side of the border. Then its about half km drive inside in no man's land, then you park and apply for your Oman visa on the other side. You do not need vehicle insurance to go into Khasab, unlike when you are travelling to Muscat.

Getting to Musandam
Yes, it is fairly straightforward to get to Musandam from Ras Al Khaimah, and you can go by Toyota Corolla. When going from Sharjah-Ajman-RAK, turn left after you descend the Al Nakheel bridge, and follow the Oman signs. The road deteriorates somewhat, you will then pass a large factory with its conveyor belt running overhead. Soon after this, you reach the UAE border post. Produce your car registration card and passport(s) and get your exit stamp. They charge AED 10 per passport, I think. Just ahead is the Oman border. (half km). Park your car, and produce your passports again. They will issue you the forms. Fill them in and hand them in with your passports. The Oman visa will be stamped on the spot. From here, its about 40min to Khasab (the town in Musandam) along a delightful sea side road. There is only one major right turn after a palace like building. After this, its a nice zig zag beach side road. Enjoy your trip! (Sorry I didn't respond earlier!)
