Bon Odori Celebration in Penang (Esplanade field) is the largest celebration out of Japan. The celebration is on 15 of July (Lunar calender). Japanese believe that during this time, the lid of the iron pot of hell is lifted to allow spirits to return home and to be among the living. Food is laid out and prayers are made at home or temples.
