It was July 2002 when I, accompanied by my two very dear friends, reached Gilgit through Karakoram highway. The 24 hour journey from Rawalpindi to Gilgit by bus was an excruciating drill. The day we arrived in the valley was a lazy and an uneventful one. We got ourselves a room and after roaming around for a while, retired to beds to catch some much needed rest.
