This was the best day of our four week cruise, and I think most of the other passengers would agree. We were sailing across the Pacific from New Zealand to Hawaii and the ship had developed some problems, not the least was that one of the four engines had stopped working. Because of the faulty engine and the very high seas, we had already missed some of the ports we had hoped to visit. We were ready for a break.
And we got it at a place called Yasawa, which is one of the many islands of Fiji. Not too many ships stop here. One did many years ago, and a fellow named Captain Bligh and his men were chased around by some very ferocious cannibals. Just a few years ago , Hollywood discovered Yasawa and several motion pictures were filmed here. Remember "The Blue Lagoon" ?
Yasawa has some of the best beaches in Fiji, and we had the pleasure of being on one of them for the whole day. The local natives put on a show , the ship's crew brought lunch to the beach, and we had a great day eating and drinking and swimming and snorkeling.
But the kids of Yasawa were the very best part of the day. I think you'll see why.
