miles and miles of old lava stretches across the country. Iceland has a 290,000 population, 180k of which live in the capital. the rest is all hamlets - a 'town' has 400 people. how depressing when you live miles from anyone and its dark most of the day? but this makes it a beautiful, natural and unspoilt country - brilliant for visiting!
