Rotorua is famous for its Thermal activity,over recent years the Geysers have been very active, a few miles south towards Taupo, Waiotapu has a very large Boiling Pool (champagne pool).a few miles further towards Taupo is Wairakei Where Bores are Drilled and Steam is piped to Power Station to generate electric Power for National Grid.
