Durban ,Kwa Zulu Natal , South Africa

PAST and PRESENT Photos--Durban is situated on the east coast of South Africa in the province of Kwa Zulu Natal. It has a lovely warm climate with summer temperatures averaging 28 degress centigrade and going into the 30's with high humidity. Winters average +20 degress cent and often go up into the upper 20's. The ocean is warm with summer water temps going up to 25 degrees. This site was edited and updated with "history" photos in September 2007. Please add your comments below. Hi Carol & Brian Once again, I get homesick. Have been to most of the sites you picture during the years we lived in Durban. We have a painting of the Umhlanga Rock lighthouse in our living room, which a german friend of ours painted. Just last weekend we had friends from Durban visiting and they immediately recognised the lighthouse. Keep well.

You just can't beat the Durban beachfront and those waves. Do miss them. The Shakaland beachfront is a great improvement on the orginal dirty piece of vacant land that it used to be.
