The picture titled "Adam's peak" is not in fact a picture of the mountain. The local name of the mountain "Adam's peak" (referred as such by the English invaders) is "Shri Pada" meaning "Holy feet". History tells that lord Buddha placed his feet on a precious stone and embosed the imprint on it to mark his visit to the island and for worship. This was done at the request of "Lord Saman" a regional headman who is venerated as a saint now for his endeavours.

Great pictures. Keep up the good work of promoting Sri Lanka. The pictures titled as Dambulla are really of Sigiriya (Check out the gallery titled The Lion Rock) which is a bit further north of Dambulla.
