We visited Haleakala in October of 2000. The view of the crater from the visitor center was incredible. Definitely a *once in a lifetime* type view. Unless we go back... The drive up was pretty long, but when you/re climbing over 10000 feet, it/s bound to take a little while. There was one thing that we definitely weren/t expecting.
