We started our journey from Penang early in the mornng of 7th Aug 2004 and head straight to Gopeng where Gua Tempurung is located. Gua Tempurong, stretching over 1.3 kilometres, is believed to have been in existence since 8000 BC. The cave is probably the largest natural limestone cave in Malaysia. Made up of five huge domes which ceilings resemble coconut shells, each dome has different formations of stalagmites and stalactites. The domes also differ from one another in terms of temperature, water level, content of limestone and marble.
