- Photography's prohibited inside & so, these last pics of the castle's interior are all "borrowed" yet I included them so as to show the castle's fine interior. *Back in the 1770's, the 5th Earl made this room to house his growing collection of paintings. Now if you can see the dog by the Earl's feet (the top, big painting with another person by the Earl's side), that dog accompanied the Earl on his Grand Tour of Europe. In Rome, the dog suffered a broken leg when he was run over by a cart. In Paris, he was lost but rescued by a servant. In another Euro city, he was run over by a coach & died. Now that's a remarkable European adventure! (Below the Earl's portrait is a painting of "Girl with Pigs.")
