These pix are some of the many I took during a two-week trp to Spain, in October 2000. I had flown from Melbourne to Bangkok (QANTAS), then from Bangkok to Roma (QANTAS. I stopped in Roma for one day, then flew to Barcelona (ALITALIA), where I attended a radio broadasting conference for three days. As part of the Conference, I visited the US Government/s Spain Shortwave Transmitting Station at Pals, on the Costa Brava, aboput 120 km north of Barcelona.
I then travelled by train from Barcelona to Madrid (eight hours). Based in Madrid, I took a one-day bus tour to Sergovia and Avila, then a four day bus tour to Cordoba, Seville, Granada, and Toledo, returning to Madrid.
I then flew from Madrid to Zurich (Iberian Airlines) where I stayed for three days, ncluding a trip by bus and rack-railway to Mt. Pilatus (2000 metres ASL) near Lucerne.
I flew back to Singapore (Swiss-Air), then on to Sydney (British Airways), and finally (!) home to Melbourne (QANTAS).
Very hectic, believe me!
The pix were taken on a Canon *Sure-Shot* 60mm zoom camera, using a mix of 100-400 ASA print stock, and produced with a *Scanmagic 4800 EP111* flatbed scanner.
The pix and story of the visit to the Pals Radio Station is at http://www.worldisround.com/articles/662/index.html
