I went to the USA for the first time (and only time so far) on summer of 1998. after a warm weekend with family in new jersey, I made myself a train pass for 30 days, and went to Boston. walked the city parks, the art museum and the science museum, visited Harvard on the other side of Charles River, and took the whale-whatching cruz. I slept in the YMCA, and went around by the subway mostly. after 5 days I took the greyhound bus to maine, my next destination. I came to Bar-harbor, Maine, and slept in the local youth hostel. in the first day it was raining, so I had to spend my time mostly at the suvenirs shops... when the sun came out, it turn out to be a beutiful place. I rented a bike and ride around the Acadia national park. lot of fun! I also took the Troly ture, and some hiking in Beach mountain. back to boston by bus, and the train to Baffalo. one day visit at the Niagra falls, and back on the train to visit my friends in Michigan. with them I went to Chicago. I loved Chicago! it/s a great city and we had lots of fun, visiting the aquarium, whatching *the king and I* musical and taking the architectural cruz in Chicago river. the longest train ride was from Chicago to Washington DC - 20 hours by train. I had found the youth hostel there nice and cozy, and walked around the city, the Mall and the space museum and the national art gallery. I left Washington by train and went south to virginia, where I visited Charlotsville. a few hours in Virginia university, and a few in Montichelo... from there I took the train to Baltimore, a beutiful city. I spend sunny sunday at the inner harbor - a great place to be if you like lots of people and atractions. one day I spend in the Aquarium and liked it a lot. my friends in Michigan invited me to visit the art fair that has been going on on their town, so I took a long train ride from Baltimore to Michigan. 2 days at the fair, and I said goodbye to my friends and took the last train - to New York City. I spent 2 weeks at NYC, and could have stayed more... the views from the Twins buildings and the empire-state building where breathtaking. I met a friend in the vilage, and she took me to times squre, the rokafeler center, central park, metropolitan museum and to bars and clubs at nights. I spend my last day in the Bronx zoo... and took my flight back home... it has been a low budjet trip, I went on my own, but spent a lot of my time with friends, family and great people I met on my way... it/s been a trip to remember, and I can/t wait to visit the USA again, and see other places and cities.
