The Grog, national drink of Cape Verde, is produced everywhere in Santo Antao, its mother land. Here in Ribeira da Cruz village ( western area ), the production is still hand-made. This sugar-cane alcohol is very popular because very cheap but causes ravages in the population. Burning, the Grog can grow until 65% alcohol when produced in small exploitation like this one. When I was invited by the numerous people I met during my treks, it was like a ritual to them to offer me a Grog. After having drinking until 10 a day at the beginning of my stay, I was almost turning crazy, so I became more moderated, taking the risk to be impolite.
