As you can see here, the fortress at Tirgoviste, the real capital during Vlad Tepes' reign, was in no condition to have a contemporary horror/thriller filmed within it's crumbling walls, so I guess we don't have to be too upset that Bram Stoker chose a different locale to set his tale. Of course, there is the western-like commercialism that surrounds Bran that is still somewhat irritating when you know the truth.
