Just uphill from the mountain city of Sinaia (on the road from Ploiesti to Brasov), you can find one of the primary residences of the former monarchy. This is Peles Castle, now the center of a huge debate in Romania because the King, who has been living in exile all along in nearby Switzerland is seeking a return of the properties his family owned that were seized during the communist takeover. The problem is that for years now, these properties have been a source of inspiration and revenue for the post-revolutionary country.
