This Fortress was built(according to what I read) in the reign of King Rama 3 for defending purposes of the Vietnamese's invading. There are another historical sites in the area including the Wat Yothanimitra, and Marine Historical Museum. You can go up to the stairs to see up-close the cannons. They were formed into circles all over the place. And the entrance of the fortress looks pretty by the very old ruins. For me, it's refreshing up there as there are trees around. You can walk through, too. Directions: Take the Tachalab Road for I guess around 6 kms or so and turn right for another half km. You can always ask some locals. Remember, its always nice to tour around Chanthaburi by yourself
