Nader Shah's sword & epaulets
North Africa/Middle East picture - Crown Jewels of Iran -- Nader Shah (1688-1747) was one of Iran's most heroic and legendary rulers. Here we see his sword made of ivory and covered with precious gems - mostly emeralds and diamonds, set in a base of pure gold. His epaulets are made out of the finest diamonds and inlaid with two huge safires. Exept for being the largest jewel collection in the world, the Iranian crown Jewels also have the largest and most valuable emerald collection in the world. Here in the Nader Shah display you can see just some of the biggest and finest of the many loose emeralds of the collection.
