Golestan Palace - Tehran
North Africa/Middle East picture - The Palace was built by the Qajar Dynasty who ruled Iran from 1779 A.D. - 1925 A.D. and made Tehran the new capital of the Persian empire. The palace was never used by the Pahlavi Dynasty as a royal residence, and was used only for state ceremonies of various kinds. It was also made open to the public as a museum by the Pahlavi household.
