In the early 1980s, this was remote, little known fishing village inhabited by a few families. Today, in 2001, over 30 (or 40?) thousand people live here. Renowned hotels and resorts established their facilities to bring the tourist from all over the world. This has allowed the population to grow and has provided employment.
