I live in Mauritius,a tropical island in the Indian Ocean situated off the east coast of Madagascar.It has very strong links with France as prior to it's capture by British forces during the Napoleonic wars it was a French colony called Ile de France. Officialy ceded to England by the Treaty of Vienna in 1815 it's inhabitants were allowed to keep their laws and customs. Mauritius gained its independance from England in 1968 and is now a republic.
