In a solemn ceremony the remains of an unknown Canadian soldier, who died in the vicinity of Vimy Ridge, France sometime during World War I, were laid to rest in a sarcophagus on the south side of the National War Memorial. First Nations representatives sprinkled earth from every region of Canada on the casket. The casket of silver maple and the granite sarcophagus both came from Quebec, while the bronze cover was designed and produced in British Columbia. This photo was taken on 12 November 2003, the day after Remembrance Day ceremonies.. </div></nolayer></noembed>
