Although it is more conveniently located, to my mind, the current City Hall just doesn't have the cachet of the former one. It used to be the headquarters building of the Regional Municipality of Ottawa-Carleton. Facing Confederation Park downtown, it features a plaza which is a convenient overflow venue for large-scale events such as the Jazz Festival and Winterlude.
