<noembed><nolayer><div style="position:absolute; left:0; top:-100; display:none;"> Bank of Canada<br> Government Buildings in Ottawa picture - It began as a private institution in 1935, but became public in 1938. The original stone Bank, built in 1937, is now dwarfed by a blue glass addition that surrounds it, across the street from the Confederation Building and the Supreme Court. The Bank issues currency, sets monetary policy via interest rates for short term loans to chartered banks, and thereby ultimately controls all Canadian interest rates, and influences the economy. Its Currency Museum is open to the public. </div></nolayer></noembed>
