Satiago IS a great city
Im from Atlanta and I already visit santiago, buenos aires and Sao Paulo. And Im telling you Santiago is a modern city with a great life in where you can go to the malls and fell like in America, or go downtown and fell in Europe. It is a great city and this pics just show one part of santiago maindly downtown, but now other place sof the city like, La Dehesa, Las COndes or Vitacura in where you can find great restourants, modern buildings and nice people.

John, apparently you haven't been in Buenos Aires. Talk about papers on the floor and dog p... Santiago is a VERY clean city with very friendly people. Yes, in the winter months there is a lot of smog, but it is because the mountains trap the pollution, just like in L.A.

The good and bad of Santiago
THe previous writer did not mention the other things one sees in Santiago such as litter everywhere.... empty bottles, candy bar wrappers. Ownerless dogs run everywhere and they are starving, flea-ridden and covered with chewing gun from sleeping on the street. The air quality is very poor and breathing is labored.. expect a burning sensation in your lungs within the first few days. The largest problem is graffiti--it is everywhere on walls, signs, even city busses it is a shame as Santiago would otherwise be a beautiful place.... minus the choking bluish smog.

Santiago is a FINE South Am. city. The views from the fort & telerifico are EXCELLENT, the yellow buses are cute & lovely, the museum is wonderful, the downtown is MODERN with nice high-rises, the people friendly, & etc. Did you go to Patagonia & Tierra del Fuego? (Or Antartica?) Such interesting places, aren't they?
