Anyway, it was mid-way thru to the next town [Pattani] when the car's gas tank suddenly broke down thereby spilling the gas which then got us stranded. The car is very old but it was our only means of moving-on. And since traffic was very light for it was already dusk, we then had to wait for the next "taxi" which was quite unlikely since people already retires by 6 p.m. in the rurals. Fortunately, there were a few houses & a small store where the Islamic Thai folks invited us. (Narathiwat is southernmost Thailand close to Malaysia & so, it's "islamic territory.") Of course, the people were intrigued by us since we're Filipinos yet at first, they thought we were Thais since we look like them. Anyhow, we had a hearthy conversation while also eating the rice cake they offered us from the store. But to our surprise, the people didn't make us pay inspite of my insistence. Now that's really nice!
