Addicted to wetlands, I jumped at the opportunity when my friends organized birds watching trip to Kuala Gula. I have no idea where the place is and not very much interested in birds. It was only when I reached the small fishing village that I was charmed by this quiet and peaceful place.

A mangrove cruise in the evening was lovely. Migratory and resident birds flew at a distance back to their home as the sun went down the horizon.

Also, what so special about this little town is the colorful road that greets you in the morning. Fishermen dry their shrimps everyday along the road to be exported to Thailand.

This is also where you can just greet anybody and borrow a bicycle for a morning cycle into the oil palm plantation. And a night walk there was of howl of owls and glowing lights from the fireflies. The trees look as if the stars are hanging on their branches.. pretty
