In 1955, MIM discovered the Here's Your Chance (HYC) zinc-lead-silver deposit on the McArthur River Station, 750km southeast of Darwin and 100km inland from the Gulf of Carpentaria in Australia's Northern Territory.

McArthur River is one of the world's largest zinc deposits. Owned by a joint venture between MIM (75%) and ANT Minerals, a consortium of leading Japanese companies (25%), the mine was brought into production in 1995, 40 years after its discovery.
