*Since I was really surprised with the lax-ness of Islam here, I then read more info in my guidebook & good enough, it states there that part of the deal when the leaders here converted to Islam back then (prior to the 15th) is that they'll maintain their traditional customs & simply mix the new religion in it.

In turn, that tradition persisted thru time which is what explains why up to now, Islam here is not as strict & fundamental as compared to other Islamic countries.
