These photos are from a week-long backpacking trip into the heart of the High Uintas Wilderness of Utah. Using a topo map, we picked a high basin to set as our destination. Aquiring the basin and bagging the unnamed peak at its far corner required about 50 miles of hiking and 6000 feet of total elevation gain. The basin is dotted with clear, blue, high alpine lakes. The 5 or so lakes are accompanied by countless ponds and streams. The basin was about one mile wide at the mouth, and its entrance sat at an altitude of about 11,000 ft. ... (more)
