First of all, sorry for the delay in the website. Now, Oktoberfest... I guess I'll start from the beginning.

Well, after Salzburg Larissa and I decided that it would be in our best interests to see München (Munich) during Oktoberfest. Larissa and I intend on going back with our friends within the next 5 years; it was a blast.

It takes place in a park and has all the elements of a carnival and additionally huge tents at one end of the grounds. These are beer tents obviously. We head into one and there are thousands of drunken people crammed into this place. people are fighting for a seat, because you need to be at a table to be served. This also appeared to be the only rule.

People of all nationalities, ages and sizes were ordering beers. The beers were only of one kind (of that particular tent) and only came in one size (1 liter). It was great times. We sat across from a few german fellas on the first night who proceeded to get drunk and teach us the cheers song in german (which they played once every 5 minutes). After an hour or two of this, a Bon Jovi song came on ("It's my life") and the already loud atmosphere erupted. This friendly german guy thought it was his job to sing the words to Larissa and I just to prove he knew it. It was hilarious. Great guy though.

Well about now is when you are probably thinking "where's the drunken grandma, I wanna hear the good stuff". Well here it is: Before we even arrived at the tent (around 6pm) we were walking along trying to find the right place for us and we saw this 80 yr. old lady trying her very hardiest to stomp on some trash on the ground. Then she got tired of this and focused all of her efforts on walking a straight line. This wasn't happening though, but she still went on her merry way.

After this display in the early evening, Larissa and I really focused on observing the vast variety of people that go to this worldly party. We noticed that the average age was probably about 35, which I was surprised at. Also, the 35 and under people were the ones that couldn't stand by themselves. The older the patron, the more they knew how to do things. We are talking 70 yr. olds going strong from 11 am until 10pm. Experience pays off I guess; such an impressive performance!

Oh, one more small story. The last day that we went, we had a 2pm train to catch. We figured we could go grab a beer before the long ride into Switzerland. The tents open up at 9:30am, so this wasn't a problem. However, we arrived at 10am and could not find a spot to sit in any tent. The tents reached their capacity at 10:30.

Please pause here and think about what this means. 8 tents X 4,000 capacity = 32,000 people trying their very hardest to get hammered as soon as possible in the morning. It was a saturday, but still, 30K - 35K said "No sleeping in here, I gotta get up and try to not be able to see for the rest of the day."

Well, this left Larissa and I out in the rain to sit and get served our last Oktoberfest beer. Luckily we had an umbrella. I did buy a hat; unfortunately it is the same one as Scott's. I hate being a follower, but it was by far the coolest. I also took the two steins. Not my proudest moment stealing and all, but I figured they had plenty and I couldn't help myself. I have never seen such cool beer-drinking utensils before in my life. Sorry mom! I won't make a habit of it.

Well, I think that's it for that story. If I think of anything else, I'll update this article. I think I'm out of time, so I gotta run.

See you all in a week or so. Miss ya.
