This castle was built by the Infante Don Juan Manuel, marquis of Villena. It's located in a fantastic setting on the gorges of the river Jucar.It is, actually, a fortified city, on the top of a huge rocky hill circled by the meandering river Jucar which only allows a narrow natural bridge into the city. The place is naturally inexpugnable!! It is easy to visit, since it is close to the motorway from Madrid to Valencia. The castle has been converted into a Parador (4 star hotel, with some 14 rooms).
