This collections of photos is mainly devoted to the people I met in the various villages during my journey: it's a gallery of faces and expressions from extraordinary people, always kind and simple, not yet ruined by mass tourism. Of course children were the most attracted by our presence and the most spontaneous and joyful in their attitude, so most of this collections is dedicated to them. Because of this reason some photos have no caption: I think you can read the entire meaning by looking at them. Type of journey: naturalistic and etnographic. This trip lasted 15 days in August 2004, and covered the central and southern part of Madagascar: we started from Antananarivo, then visited Morondova, sailed up for three days the Tsiribihina river, sleeping along the banks; take the off-road cars and crossed the central plateaus of Madagascar, passing through Antsirabe, Ambositra, Ambalavao and Ranohira; we visited the Isalo National Park and then reacehd the coast near Tulear. We spent four days along the southern coast, sleeping in camps, until we reached Fort Dauphin. Then from there we've flown to Antananarivo and then to Italy. We were fifteen on four off-road cars. The pictures of this adventure are selected from almost 1,000 images I shot on this trip. This was my equipment: Nikon F80 camera; Zoom Nikon 24-120 AF VR Nikkor 1:3.5 5.6G; Zoom Nikon 80-400 AF VR Nikkor 1:4.5 5.6D. I used Fuji PROVIA slide film; I used only polarizing and UV filters. The selected slides were digitalized with a Nikon Coolscan IV ED scanner. Photoshop was used only to enhance some parameters, like contrast and sharpness. I hope you will enjoy looking at them, and I look forward to receiving your comments.
