Hanko is the southernmost spot, and southernmost town, in Finland, located on a peninsula, so it's tempting to call it the Key West of Finland...but unlike USA's Key West, it has cold weather, and attracts tourists mostly in the summer. During the fall (autumn), winter and early spring, it is very desolate. Here are some pictures we took on October 10, 2004, on a quick but very 'out-of-our-way' trip from Lahti to Helsinki. Riia had been to Hanko only once as a child (MAAANY years ago) and Tepa had never been there, so we thought we'd go see it. We do not know what is what in Hanko - your guess is about as good as ours, as to what each picture actually depicts. :)
