Y no importa si Puerto Rico es territorio estadounidense o marciano, Puerto Rico siempre es Boricua y siempre sera de aquellos de nosotros que tuvimos la buena fortuna y bendición de haber nacido alli. Beautiful AND safe.
There are hardly any poisonous (if any) marine life in our gorgeous beaches. Sharks attacks are extremely rare in Puerto Rico. Muscle cramps in water might may cause more damage than any sea life you might encounter. The solution, never go swimming by yourself. Besides, it's a lot more fun when you go with others. Puerto Rico IS the island to visit, all others Caribbean islands are but an optical illusion, don't even bother traveling there.

Hi: I am from Puerto Rico Yes!is beautiful. Last summer some friends went to visit the island from California they love it but sadly they saw a lot of stranded dogs. Sadly this situation affects the island in different ways first the poor dogs second the goverment don't care about it. Very sad!

I lived there for two years and really enjoyed the laid back environment. The beaches there are the best, especially for snorkling. To answer your question, the crime rate may be a little higher than many of the states, but I never personally had any problems. The people there are very friendly. In fact, I married while I was there. So if you're considering a vacation to PR, I highly recommend it.

If you plan to travel to Puerto Rico for R&R, Rincon is the best, because it is far from the most crowded areas of the island but pretty close to Mayaguez, which is a major city with excellent health care and services.
