Athos.The easterly prong of the Chalkidiki peninsula,with its dense woods,steep slopes,rocky shores and its monasteries wich together make up the Holy Mountain. Thereis no comparable phenomenon elsewhere in the world. Nowhere else are so many prayers offered up to the heaven each day as from this small corner of the earth. And there is only one word which canadequately describe the feelings of the onlooker upon confronting these images.Awe!
