LAKE TOBA

Lake Toba or commonly referred to as Danau Toba by the locals is one of the largest crater lakes in the world. Measuring some 100km long and 30 km wide, it is located in the northern part of Sumatra. According to the scientists, the lake was created from a gigantic volcanic eruption 75,000 years ago. The collapse of the volcano formed a caldera, which then filled with water and thus creating Lake Toba.
