Who would have known the abundance of life nature has to offer one can discover just by simply taking a stroll along the green paddy fields. Kulim, little known place in the state of Kedah, Malaysia possesses wonderful countryside scenery with paddy fields literally spilling over with miniature lifeforms. The unperturbed flora and fauna attracts the herons and migratory birds to stopover, as can be easily observed early mornings or late afternoons, flocking around the fields. We were also fortunate to observe traditional "kampung" life up close, local friendly farmers going about their daily chores. Sometimes the best things in life are simple. Surprisingly, the vast paddy field is just off the Kulim highway! A great weekend escape just 30 minutes from the hustle and bustle of modern day living.
