The Uinta Mountains are the highest mountains in Utah. The mountains are only accessible to hikers for about three months each summer. The high passes usually aren't accessible until early to mid July, and heavy snows can begin to fall as early as September. During the summer months, snowmelt and rainfall fill the hundreds of lakes and streams that paint these mountains.
