<noembed><nolayer><div style="position:absolute; left:0; top:-100; display:none;"> &#34;Another bit of the Philippines in H.K.&#34;<br> Scenery in Hong Kong picture - Problem is, it wasn&#39;t only the Marcoses &#38; his cronies who were corrupt but also, almost everybody else in position, from the high offices &#38; down to the local municipalities since most of them belonged to his party. And when you have the military on your side, then it&#39;s going to be a very long dictatorship just like what happened in neighboring Indonesia or currently in Burma. And eventhough the Philippines is slowly getting back up on its feet, 20 yrs. was a very long time of plundering! And so, it will take awhile before full recovery is made. That period of time then saw the greatest mass exodus of Filipinos out of the country in search for work to enable their families to survive. The only thing that&#39;s in the favor of the Filipinos is - we are skilled workers (so many universities in the country with so little job!) making us attractive abroad for a not-so-expensive wage relative to the skill. But the West (Europe, North America, Aussie) does pays well. </div></nolayer></noembed>
