- Fondly called that way by the Filipinos here because of its black paint, it's actually a statue of a Brit governor (if I'm not mistaken) back in the colonial times. This place is also one of their Sunday hang-outs. *As you can see, it was X-mas '02 & so, it's even sadder at this time of the year for the contract workers to be here (away from home), though some of them are able to have a 1-2 weeks vacation to be with their family & loved ones in the Philippines. But for us, we told them that we left the Philippines during the yuletide season to get away from friends, family, & relatives in order to hide from them, thereby preventing us from having to buy gifts especially since there's a lot of them, he, he, he!:) At times, we told fellow Filipinos here that we're hiding from all the people we swindled & owe huge debts to:)
