Srikalahasti Temple-The Sacred Shrine

Srikalahasti is a place of Hindu pilgrimage with a temple here dedicated to Lord Shiva. Located at 36 km from Tirupati, 578km from Hyderabad and 326 km from Vijayawada, Srikalahasti is a town in Chittoor District of Andhra Pradesh.

The temple enshrines one of the five prominent Lingas. The presiding deities of Srikalahasti temple are Srikalahastiswara and his consort Gnanaprasunambika. "Vedas- A Critical analysis with Special Reference to Human Body and Health"

For my research purpose and study ,

By next week I plan to go to Srikalahasthi from Chennai Koyambedu and back with my family members of 4 adults in Sep 2009.

I prefer a Sunday morning or Sunday Morning say around 10.00 A.M reach Srikalahasthi and preform a pooja from 4.30 P.M. and leave at 6.00 P.M.

I need your suggestion in planning this.

Great Temple Town
I am a native of Srikalahasti. The temple town is very famous for deities of Srikalahastiswara and his consort Gnanaprasunambika, Gaali gopuram(120feet height) ,the great architecture inside the temple, for huge pillars, Sikha dharshana, Rahu Keythu puja, beautiful nagamalli flowers, maareydu leaves, nice river, ashramas (sri vidhya prakasananda swamy, suka bramhasanam), lo bavi( lake surrounded three sides by hills) where Bardhwaja maharshi did thapssu, wonderful view of greenish hills, nice people, good educational institutes, cinema halls, sweet paala kova, color soda, wide streets, old Rama seythu bridge..etc! Come here .u will feel the great difference..! Best season to visitis.sept. to march..!
