Also this is where Bram Stocker wrote the novel &#34;Dracula.&#34; The sun also sets on the sea in high summer, very unusual for a town on the east coast. The Synod of Whitby was held in the Abbey which stands over the town on it&#39;s east cliff, it was here in the seventh century that the church in England would follow the dates set by Rome for the celebration of Easter. Lastly Whitby is famed for being the only place in Britain that can be found the semi precious stone Jet and there are many outlets in the town that will supply the demands of any taste. </div></nolayer></noembed>
