The Sapulpa history book said he rode on the first train from Sapulpa to Tulsa which is 19 miles from here. He burried here in Sapulpa, and we have a wood carving of him in front of city hall. I'll have to get a picture of it. I get my pictures from the area where my husband just happens to drive by. Sometimes I can aim toward a spot. I always telling him you can drive through the downtown area to get there. Sometimes I get lucky. a picture of Chief Sapulpan can be found at http://www.rootsweb.com/~okcreek/photos/index.htm and old pictures of Sapulpa Oklahoma and near by towns.
Information from the http://sapulpachamber.com has the history of Cheif Sapulpan.
They wrote, Cheif Sapulpan was a full blood lower Creek Indian of the Kesehta Tribe in Osocheetown Alabama. He came to Oklahoma Territory about 1850 and estabished a trading post near polecat creek and rock creek about a mile from present downtown Sapulpa area now.
