From the City Hall Square to Kongens Nytorv - the oldest pedestrian street in Europe was closed for ordinary traffic in 1962. Before 11 o&#39;clock am lorries and other vehicles bringing goods to the various shops are allowed, after that only pedestrians.Originally the street consisted of 5 streets: Frederiksberggade, Nygade, Vimmelskaftet, Amager Torv, og Oestergade. In general you can say, that the closer you get to Kongens Nytorv the more exclusive the shops. To-day the inner city consists of a network of pedestrian streets making it possible to stroll through the old town at leasure without the noise and fumes of modern day traffic. </div></nolayer></noembed>
