The legend tells us that the home of all Mermaids was the Mermaid Banks in &#216;resund. The banks are no more but Copenhagen&#39;s own Little Mermaid is. The Carlsberg brewer Carl Jacobsen was inspired to donate money to a sculpture after having seen &#34;The little Mermaid&#34; based on a fairytale by Hans Christian Andersen. The sculptor Edward Eriksen, sculptured her in bronze and his wife Eline Eriksen modelled. The story says that she is a sea king&#39;s half-human and half-fish daughter, who must wait on her rock for 300 years before she can enter the world of humans. She&#39;s been sitting here since 1913. www.mermaidsculpture.dk </div></nolayer></noembed>
