As I picked up a small lava rock, we were advised by a lady transplanted from the mainland, that Madame Pele might get upset if I took that rock. She said there are many testimonials of people who had taken a rock and then had bad luck. Needless to say, I left the rock there.The lady, however, was picking up rocks for her home there on Maui which is OK.
