Hiking in Yosemite in October was perfect(no insects, leaves were changing color, not very crowded and excellent weather conditions). The waterfalls were quite small (Yosemite Fall was dry) but it's still a very special place. We did 3 great hikes: to the top of Sentinel Dome (drive to Glacier Point for sunset), Cathedral Lakes (drive to Tuolumne Meadows) and Nevada Falls (popular hike from the valley). http://www.nps.gov/yose/ http://www.nps.gov/yose/trip/hiking.htm
